August 14, 2023WHO CBD Report; the World Health Organization
August 14, 2023The world is talking about CBD more and more. As individuals continue to use and recommend CBD products, new users continue to ask “How CBD works?” Let’s talk about CBD, the Endocannabinoid System, and CBD’s natural abilities.
The Endocannabinoid System
In the 1990s, researchers discovered receptors that would one day be known as the Endocannabinoid System. When we refer to the endocannabinoid system, or ECS, we’re referring to receptors within our body that respond to cannabinoids.
For a mental picture, imagine your immune system – vast and reaching every corner of your body. Your ECS is almost a mirror image of this, offering a plethora of ways to help your body. It is good to keep in mind that we are naturally built with an ECS. This would mean that our bodies are built to break down and utilize cannabinoids!
The CB1 and CB2 receptors are found in the brain and throughout the body, very similar to the structure of our nervous system. These respond to cannabinoids that our bodies naturally create in addition to cannabinoids that we use. When these receptors act, many physiological processes occur. For example, these receptors play a role in addressing unrelated issues. Examples would be stress and inflammation.
CB1 receptors are found in the central nervous system. This suggests that the CB1 receptor can impact the chemistry in our brain and even influence our mental health and daily stress levels.
CB2 receptors are concentrated in the immune system, and can dictate the system’s response to oxidate stress, inflection, and also inflammation.
How CBD Works?
Our body aims for homeostasis, or balance, constantly. Because of the social war waged on cannabis through the 1960s, our ECS has been ignored. While bodies naturally produce cannabinoids, it isn’t often enough to facilitate the overall potential of the ECS. To put it more simply, many individuals have a cannabinoid deficiency.
When utilized, CBD activates the ECS.
Natural Potential of CBD
There are countless uses for CBD when it is regularly used. Despite being negatively affiliated with THC, reputable universities around the world have found that CBD can be a powerhouse.
Due to FDA regulations, we are unable to provide exact benefits or research articles on what properties CBD has.
Now You Know How CBD Works…
Using the endocannabinoid system, CBD targets the CB1 and CB2 receptors. This specific targeting allows CBD to access the body’s numerous systems, helps to establish homeostasis.

Understanding the Legality Behind CBD
The 2018 Farm Bill has been a huge contributor to the movement of hemp and cannabis throughout the American political system. This bill is updated by congress every five years to ensure the country is growing crops to adhere to the needs of their time. Since hemp was in high demand and the government saw no danger in passing farming laws for a non-psychoactive plant, hemp products (specifically CBD) were all thrown onto shelves – almost overnight.
While we believe this is a huge step for the entirety of cannabis and hemp alike, this has led to some uneducated business practices – taking advantage of a popular product to maximize on profit. As a consumer, it is more than overwhelming to sift through fact and fiction regarding a virtually unknown chemical. This is why CBD 101 has come into effect – to educate the public on this topic as much as possible.
